Negeri Sembilan State Election Result 2026: UMNO Wins All 16 Seats, BN-PN Form Government

(Seremban, August 2) UMNO delivered a clean sweep in the Negeri Sembilan state election result 2026, winning all 16 seats it contested, as BN and its Perikatan Nasional partner claimed a combined 25 seats and a two-thirds majority to form the new Negeri Sembilan state government. Pakatan Harapan won 11 seats and lost its two most senior candidates, with both DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and caretaker Menteri Besar Aminuddin suffering defeats.

BN-PN Win Combined Majority

UMNO’s performance was the centrepiece of BN’s result, winning all 16 seats it contested in the Negeri Sembilan state election result 2026. MCA added two more, winning N1 Gemencheh and N36 Lobak, bringing BN’s total to 18 seats. PN won seven — PAS four and Gerakan Tanah Air three — giving the combined coalition 25 seats from 36, well above the 19-seat majority threshold. The new government will be formed with the consent of Tuanku Muhriz.

Pakatan Harapan Wins Only 11 Seats

Pakatan Harapan ended the night with 11 seats and two painful high-profile losses. Lim Guan Eng lost Gemencheh to MCA’s Hsiao Khang Chun by 688 votes; Aminuddin lost Rantau to UMNO’s Mohammad Fisa by 2,976 votes. Lim told supporters at a community hall in Jempol that he had anticipated the loss when unofficial counts showed a gap of around 500 votes, and apologised to those who had worked and voted for him. He pledged not to leave Jempol and to continue serving the constituency’s residents.

DPM Zahid Visits Palace to Submit Three MB Candidates

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid visited the Istana Besar at around 10pm on polling day and left at 12.45am. He said he had submitted three names from BN for Tuanku Muhriz’s consideration for the post of Menteri Besar, with the final decision belonging entirely to the ruler. Zahid asked for courtesy to be shown in any handover of the Menteri Besar’s official residence.
